Peterborough Petes News Release
(Peterborough, ON) - The Dallas Stars announced on Thursday, March 2, that they have signed Petes defenceman Gavin White to a three-year entry-level contract.
"It's all pretty surreal," stated White. "I am super excited to sign. I've come a long way in three years and to be here right now is a dream come true."
White, a 2002-born defenceman from Brockville, ON, was a fourth round selection, 115th overall, by the Dallas Stars in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. In 66 games last season, White recorded 10 goals and 46 assists for 56 points, and another nine points in 19 postseason games leading to a J. Ross Robertson Cup championship.
"On behalf of the Petes, I'd like to congratulate Gavin on reaching this career milestone," noted Petes General Manager Mike Oke. "Since joining the Petes earlier this season, Gavin has shown continued progress toward his goal of playing in the National Hockey League, and this accomplishment is one step closer to that goal."
Acquired by the Petes on January 7 from the Hamilton Bulldogs, White has recorded 10 goals and 27 assists for 37 points in 42 games so far this season.
"This signing not only recognizes Gavin's dedication, but also the work of the Petes coaches and development staff, as well as Steve Staios, Matt Turek, Jay McKee, and the entire Hamilton Bulldogs Organization, where Gavin began his career," continued Oke.
White will be in action for the Petes on Thursday, March 2, when the Saginaw Spirit visit the PMC. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Fans can get tickets, or by contacting the PMC Grant Thornton Box Office in person or at (705) 743-3561.
