Portland Winterhawks News Release

Portland, Ore. - The Portland Winterhawks, proud member club of the Western Hockey League, are pleased to announce that goaltender Taylor Gauthier has been named Goalie of the Week by the WHL for his performance during the week of Apr. 25 - Apr. 30, 2022.

This is Gauthier's fourth time earning Goalie of the Week honors since debuting with the Winterhawks in January.

Gauthier, 21, went 2-0-0-0 with a .983 save percentage and 0.50 GAA during games three and four of Portland's first-round playoff series against the Prince George Cougars last week, helping his team complete a sweep to advance to round two. The Pittsburgh Penguins prospect pitched a shutout in Tuesday's game three, stopping all 28 Cougars shots as he knocked off his former club for a third straight game. In Wednesday's series-deciding matchup, the Calgary, Alta. native was dialed in once more with 29 saves on 30 shots - including 12 in the third period alone - en route to a key 2-1 win for the Winterhawks.

Gauthier's four wins in the 2022 WHL Playoffs rank tied for most among all goaltenders, and his 1.00 GAA and .965 save percentage are both second only to New York Rangers prospect Dylan Garand of the Kamloops Blazers.
