Gatewood Earns "Ironman of the Week" honors for third time

PHOENIX - Rattler wide receiver/defensive back Randy Gatewood has been named "Ironman of the Week" for the third time in four weeks, the Arena Football League announced today.

Gatewood (6-0, 185 pounds), who is in his 11th season in the AFL, helped carry the Rattlers offense in their 58-45 win over the Los Angeles Avengers on Friday night. Offensively, he caught seven passes for 112 yards and five touchdowns. He also tallied three tackles on defense.

The 2003 "Ironman of the Year" has 39 catches for 507 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. Defensively, he leads the team in tackles (40) and interceptions (3).

This marks the fourth time this year that the Rattlers have had and AFL weekly award winner. In addition to Gatewood winning the same honor back-to-back in Weeks 6 and 7, offensive specialist Damien Groce was named "Offensive Player of the Week" in Week 4.

The Arizona Rattlers look for their fifth consecutive win when they head to HP Pavilion to take on the San Jose SaberCats on Sunday, April 2. The game, which is set to kick off at 3:00 p.m. PST, can be seen on NBC and heard on ESPN 860AM.
