Arizona's Gatewood, Georgia's Jackson, and Columbus' Hefflin earn Week 9 honors

NEW YORK - Arizona Rattlers WR/DB RANDY GATEWOOD, Georgia Force OS CHRIS JACKSON and Columbus Destroyers DS BRANDON HEFFLIN have been named Ironman, Offensive Player and ADT Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for Week 9 of the 2006 season.

IRONMAN: Gatewood (6-0, 185, UNLV), who is in his 11th AFL season, collected the Ironman award for the third time in the last four weeks having earned back-to-back honors in Weeks 6-7. In Friday's 58-45 home win over Los Angeles, Arizona's fourth victory in a row, he posted seven catches for 112 yards and five touchdowns and added 3.5 tackles on defense.

OFFENSIVE: Jackson (6-2, 215, Washington State), who is in his seventh AFL season, hauled in 10 receptions for 124 yards and six touchdowns and added a 55-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in Georgia's 61-51 Southern Division win over Tampa Bay on Sunday. His 42 points (seven total touchdowns) broke the Force's single-game scoring record.

ADT DEFENSIVE: Hefflin (6-1, 190, Toledo), who is in his second AFL season, posted 13.5 tackles, two fumble recoveries (returned for 21 yards) and one interception in Columbus' 65-21 win over Colorado on Saturday. One of his fumble recoveries set up a second-quarter Destroyers touchdown. He was part of a defensive unit that limited Colorado to 21 points.

Ironman of the Week candidates included: Chicago's Carlos Wright, Columbus' Thabiti Davis, Georgia's Jamin Elliot, Las Vegas' Aleric Clark, Nashville's Cory Fleming and Orlando's Jerrian James.

Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Sherdrick Bonner, Chicago's Matt D'Orazio, New York's Mike Horacek and Philadelphia's Tony Graziani.

ADT Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Joe Todd, Chicago's Khreem Smith, Georgia's Jermaine Smith, Nashville's Monty Montgomery, Orlando's Khalil Carter and Philadelphia's Eddie Moten.
