Gateway Grizzlies News Release
O'FALLON, Mo. - The River City Rascals made five errors Tuesday night, but the Gateway Grizzlies failed to adequately take advantage in a 9-4 loss at CarShield Field.
Gateway (14-21) lost its fourth straight game despite Blake Brown's two-hit performance, highlighted by his sixth home run of the season - his 54th career round-tripper with Gateway, which tied him with Stephen Holdren for fourth place on the Grizzlies' all-time list.
River City (19-14) moved a full game ahead of the remainder of the West Division.
JD Hearn - the younger brother of former Grizzlies outfielder Matt Hearn, who was recently picked up by the Colorado Rockies - led off the first inning with a solo home run and the Rascals piled up five runs in the first two innings.
Will Anderson (2-1) took the loss for the Grizzlies. Taso Stathopoulos threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings with five strikeouts in his professional debut.
Gateway and River City have a quick turnaround for game two of their three-game series Tuesday at 11:05 a.m.
