Beach Bums Drop High Scoring Game in Washington

Traverse City Beach Bums News Release
WASHINGTON, PA - The Traverse City Beach Bums'(13-20) and the Washington Wild Things(23-11) locked up in a back-and-forth contest with six lead changes but Washington took the victory by a final score of 11-10.
Arby Fields led off the game with a single into right field and Luke Lowery drove both him and Fields in with a two-run homer for an early Beach Bums lead. Alexis Rivera made it back-to-back bombs with a solo shot for his first of the season for a 3-0 advantage. After a scoreless second, Isaac Benard extended his hitting streak to eight games with a double then scored on an RBI single by Will Kengor.
Washington got a run back in the bottom of third on a James Harris RBI single. In the fourth, Hector Roa pulled Washington within one on a single then Mike Hill hit a three-run homer, giving Washington their first lead of the game at 5-4. For the next two innings, the teams would trade multi-run innings. A two-out rally in the top of the fifth gave Traverse City the lead back. Luke Lowery reached on an infield single then Alexis Rivera hit his second homer of the game. Reydel Medina picked up two runs in the bottom of the inning with a single.
In the sixth, Max Dutto led off with a walk and Alec Olund, who picked up the first hit of his career, reached on an error. Fields followed with a grounder to first but an error allowed him to reach and brought Dutto in to score. Olund would later score on a passed ball to give the Bums an 8-7 lead. Will Kengor made it a two-run game with an RBI single, plating Benard , who reached on a fielder's choice. Washington got their response with a Kyle Pollock two-run double and a solo homer my Hill, his second long ball of the night, and the Wild Things led 10-9.
Luke Lowery led off the seventh with a solo shot that curled over the left field wall, his second homer of the game and fifth of the year, tying the game at 10. In the eighth, with the bases loaded after three walks, one intentional, Hector Roa dribbled a grounded towards third. Steve Lohr charged it and fired to first but Roa was safe and Harris scored from third for the final lead change of the game.
Zach Strecker retired all five batters he faced, including striking out the side in the ninth to earn the win and improve to 3-0.Matt Williams suffered the loss, striking out one, but walking three, along with allowing the winning run and a hit, to fall in his first decision of the season.
On Wednesday, the Beach Bums and Wild Things get back together for game two of this week's three game set. Thomas Dorminy gets the start for Washington while Jordan Desguin goes for the Beach Bums. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm and Tom Willms will have the call, starting with the Budweiser pregame show, at 6:45pm. It will be two seven-inning games.
