Idaho Stampede News Release

BOISE, Idaho, November 23, 2011 - Bryan Gates, former Idaho Stampede Head Coach and all-time leader in career wins (100) will be recognized on US Bank Court at CenturyLink Arena on Friday, November 25 prior to the Stampede's first game of the season against the Tulsa 66ers.

Gates, now an assistant coach with the New Orleans Hornets, left the Stampede after the 2008-09 season to take an assistant coaching job with the Sacramento Kings.

"I am very proud of what we did both on and off the court in my nine years with the Idaho Stampede," Gates said. "For them to recognize me is an honor I will remember forever."

Gates helped lead the Stampede to the NBA D-League Championship in 2007-08, the lone championship in the franchise's storied history. Gates was twice named the Dennis Johnson Coach of the Year in the D-League, in 2006-07, and in 2007-08. Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Gates began as an unpaid basketball operations intern after attending Boise State University when the team was born in the 1997-98 season, and finished his time in Boise after the 2008-09 season. Gates made head coaching and assistant coaching stops with the Austin Toros, Rapid City Thrillers, Oklahoma Storm, Hickory Nutz, and the Blue Stars, a team located in Beirut, Lebanon.

"We are thrilled that a true Boise original came back to help us kick off our 14th season of professional basketball," said President and GM Steve Brandes. "We had many great memories with Bryan as a part of our organization - now, with Randy Livingston as our team's leader, we expect many more great times."
