Sioux City Explorers News Release
Gary, IN-----Will Krout of Gary threw a complete game shutout in a 2-0 win over the Explorers here Tuesday.
Krout, starting only his eighth game this season, normally a relief pitcher, pitched his first complete game shutout in his career, limiting the Explorers to just four hits.
The RailCats scored a run in the first inning off losing hurler Alain Quijano (2-5) and added their second run in the fourth inning. Quijano pitched well enough to win allowing six hit, walking two and striking out one, but the offense was shut down by Krout.
Mike Murphy's double with two outs in the third inning was the only Explorer to reach second base the entire game. Murphy also had a single, getting two of the four hits for the Explorers who have now lost five of their last six games.
The second game of the series will be Wednesday with game time set for 7:10.
