Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Stone Garrett socked a go-ahead three-run home run on Thursday to propel the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp to a 6-2 victory in front of 5,007 fans at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. Fans enjoyed a Budweiser Thirsty Thursday and St. Vincent's HealthCare Military Appreciation Day.
Mobile (21-31) led 1-0 when BayBears starter Jesus Castillo (2-6) walked Brian Miller. An error put two men on before Garrett blasted a three-run shot to give Jacksonville (20-33) their first lead.
Brandon Sandoval homered to pull Mobile within one in the top of the seventh, but more BayBears miscues helped the Jumbo Shrimp offense.
Consecutive Mobile errors put runners on second and third to jumpstart the bottom of the seventh. Corey Bird then lashed an RBI single. Two batters later, Miller rocketed a two-run single to left to increase the Jacksonville advantage to 6-2.
Jumbo Shrimp starter Robert Dugger (6-5) earned the win with two runs allowed on six hits in seven innings - his fourth straight start of seven frames. The right-hander fanned seven against one walk.
The BayBears got on the board in the fourth inning on an RBI ground out from Sandoval.
Thursday's winning raffle number of 1956999024 won a prize of $174.
