Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
LAKEWOOD, NJ - The Kannapolis Intimidators got three runs from Drew Garcia on their way to their biggest win of the season, a 7-1 victory on Friday night at FirstEnergy Park over the BlueClaws.
Garcia recorded his third straight multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. The Intimidators infielder has raised his average from .195 to .240 in that three game stretch.
Kannapolis (16-12) got six runs in the first three innings to make it a short evening for Lakewood starter Jason Knapp. The 18-year-old right-hander gave up six runs on seven hits, two walks and a hit batter in three innings. Knapp (2-3) also struck out a season-low three hitters.
Stephen Sauer gave up just one run in four innings in his first professional start. The right-hander surrendered just one hit and struck out four, but did not survive long enough to factor in the decision.
Instead, the win went to Tyson Corley (1-0), who pitched two scoreless innings. Leroy Hunt, Adam Bowling and Nate Jones also threw a scoreless inning each.
Tyler Kuhn and Sergio Morales each drove in two runs for Kannapolis to help vault the Intimidators back ahead of the BlueClaws (15-12) in the Northern Division standings.
