Rockford, Illinois: Road struggles has been the story all season long. So far this roadtrip, that theme has stayed the same. Coming into last night's game, the Freedom had dropped all four games on their current six game roadtrip. The trend continued last night.
Trailing 3-0 going into the eighth, the Freedom rallied and stormed back to tie it at three. The tie didn't last for long, and for the third time this roadtrip the bullpen blew a lead or a tie, as Brandon Cohen hit a solo homerun to send the Riverhawks to a 4-3 victory over Florence.
Greg Stone served as a catalyst for the offense, he went 2-5 with a run scored. Reggie Watson snapped out of a mini-slump, he went 3-5 with a double and a run scored. Beau Blacken went 1-4 with a double, RBI, and a run scored. Nick Salotti went 1-3 with a double and RBI.
The Freedom conclude their roadtrip tonight in Rockford and will try to salvage a win, first pitch is scheduled for 7:05. You can follow the action on 107.9 Class-X with the voice of the Freedom, Roger Redmon.
