Bats Quiet as Isotopes Drop First of 2017

The Isotopes registered just three hits, falling to 1-1 on the year as the Salt Lake Bees emerged victorious on Friday evening, 5-2, at Isotopes Park.

After two scoreless innings, the Isotopes got on the board first in the bottom of the third when right fielder Noel Cuevas delivered a two-run single to left. These would be the only runs scored by the Isotopes on the evening.

Albuquerque starter Matt Flemer tossed 6.0 strong innings. The right-hander allowed just one run on six hits, striking one and walking one. His quality start resulted in a no-decision.

The Bees offense did their damage against the Isotopes bullpen, scoring four of their five runs against Albuquerque relievers.

Isotopes outfielder Mike Tauchman, who is in the midst of a 26-game hitting streak, did not enter the contest.

Game three of this five-game series is Dukes Retro Night. The Isotopes will turn back the clock and become the Dukes to take on the Salt Lake Gulls. Prior to the contest, Pedro, Ramon and Jesus Martinez will be inducted into the Albuquerque Professional Baseball Hall of Fame. Zach Jemiola will take the hill for Albuquerque in what will be his Triple-A debut. He will be opposed by Salt Lake right-hander Daniel Wright. First pitch from Isotopes Park is set for 7:05 p.m.
