Josh Rodriguez hit a pinch-hit, two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning in the Las Vegas 51s' 4-2 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas Friday night at Southwest University Park. El Paso's Matt Magill pitched well in the loss, allowing only one earned run in six innings of work. Chihuahuas' starting pitching has let in only two earned runs in 12 innings this season.
Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Diego Goris lined an RBI double to tie the game. The Chihuahuas fell behind 2-1 before coming back again in the eighth on Rafael Ortega's game-tying single through a drawn-in infield. The tie score didn't last for long, as Rodriguez' home run put the 51s ahead to stay.
Jamie Romak went 3-for-4 in the loss for El Paso. Cory Spangenberg went 2-for-4, his second consecutive multi-hit game. The Chihuahuas have now started all four of their seasons with a 1-1 record.
