Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release
This Friday, the Pensacola Ice Flyers head to Georgia to take on the Augusta RiverHawks. The game gets underway in James Brown Arena at 7:35 PM ET / 6:35 PM ET. The two teams have played just once so far this season with the only game being a 3-2 Augusta win at The Hangar. Pensacola comes into the weekend at 3-4-2 after beating Columbus last Saturday and Augusta comes in to the game as the first place team in the league with a record of 8-2-1. 6 of Pensacola's 8 points have come on the road.
On Saturday, which is Mascot Night, the Ice Flyers play host to the Huntsville Havoc. This will be the first game between the Havoc and the Ice Flyers this season. Huntsville will be playing their 3 rd game in 3 nights when they enter The Hangar, as they played at home against Knoxville on Thanksgiving night, at Columbus on Friday, before heading to Pensacola. The Havoc enters the weekend with a record of 6-3-2.

Live Post-Game Show:
1450 ESPN Pensacola will now be hosting a live post-game show. Fans can call in up to a half hour after the game and discuss the game with Ice Flyers' play-by-play announcer Paul Chesnutt and either Head Coach Todd Gordon or one of the Ice Flyers. The call in number is toll free at 1-855-444-3776. So fans driving home from the game, tune into AM 1450 ESPN Pensacola and call in.
Ice Flyers Transactions:
The Ice Flyers made a few moves in preparation for this week's games. First was a trade with the Mississippi RiverKings that sent defenseman Chris Pontes to Southaven in exchange for defenseman Ryan Ramage. Ramage comes to Pensacola with 1 assist in 6 games, a +2 rating, and 27 penalty minutes.
Continuing the defensive shakeup, the Ice Flyers have brought in Donnie Harris. Harris attended the Ottawa Senators camp this fall and comes to the Ice Flyers from the ECHL's Elmira Jackals. Harris is a rookie out of Fort Ashby, WV and in 2 games with the Jackals Harris was a +1.
The Ice Flyers also made a change between the pipes placing Erik Hudson on waivers. Taking Hudson's spot will be Steve Christie. Christie is also a rookie and comes to the Ice Flyers from the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads. Christie is from Winnipeg, MB and was the Canadian University Goalie of the Year. With Idaho he appeared in 2 games with a record of 0-1-0, a 4.82 GAA, and a .872 SV%.
Last Saturday, Coach Todd Gordon signed Chris Campanale to a 3-game tryout contract. In the lone game of last weekend, Campanale added an assist while playing on line with Dan Buccella and Mike Carter. Gordon has also signed Anthony Ciraulo to a 3-game tryout contract, who played his college hockey at the University of Michigan.
In injury news, left winger Chris Wilson was placed on 30-day Injured Reserve.
Team Scope:
PENSACOLA - Last weekend the Ice Flyers played only one game as they headed to Columbus to take on the Cottonmouths. Adam Ward was brilliant in net and helped to secure a 3-2 win for the Flyers. Ward has now played in 8 games for the Ice Flyers posting 462 minutes, a record of 3-4-1, a 2.99 GAA, and a .891 save percentage. Player/assistant and team captain Dan Buccella leads the team with 9 points. Buccella and Matthew Robertson lead the team in goals with 5 while Chris Wilson leads the team in assists with 6. Fan favorite Adam Kuhn still is the Ice Flyers' team leader in penalty minutes with 33 but Dan Ehrman is right behind him with 29.
The Ice Flyers are going into the weekend looking trying to gain ground in the standings. The Ice Flyers currently sit in 7 th place in the SPHL and are 1 point back of the Louisiana IceGators with a game in hand and 2 points back of the Mississippi Surge.
AUGUSTA - The RiverHawks played only one game last weekend and it was a 5-3 loss at the hands of the Knoxville Ice Bears. Offensively Augusta is led by Jim Gehring and Dustin Cloutier who have 16 and 15 points, respectively. Gehring leads the team in goals with 10 while Cloutier leads the team in assists with 10. The RiverHawks have traded their #1 goaltender to the RiverKings and re-signed John Olthuis. Olthuis started the season with the CHL's Tulsa Oilers but played in only one game posting a 13.94 GAA and a .722 SV%. Augusta also has BJ O'Brien and Peter Skoggard under contract. O'Brien has a record of 1-2-0, 3.01 GAA, and a.864 SV% while Skoggard has a perfect 3-0-0 record, 2.00 GAA, and a SV% of .932.
Augusta travelled to Fayetteville last night and pulled off at 5-4 victory. Their record is now 9-2-1 heading into Friday night's contest against the Ice Flyers.
HUNTSVILLE - The Havoc finished last week 2-0-1 after beating the RiverKings 5-2 on Tuesday, falling 2-1 in a shootout loss at Columbus on Friday, and beating the Surge 4-2 on Saturday. All of their games last week were on the road. Huntsville is led by Ryan Kretzer and his16 points. Brandon Richardson is hot on his tail with 14. Richardson also leads the team in goals with 8 and Kretzer is the assists leader with 11. In the crease, the Havoc are led by Mark Sibbald. Sibbald has played in 7 games for Huntsville posting a record of 4-3-0, a 2.27 GAA, and a .930 SV%. Backing up Sibbald is Corey Milan who has a 2-2-0 record, 2.76 GAA, and a SV% of .902.
Huntsville fell to Knoxville on Thanksgiving at home 5-2. When they square off against the Ice Flyers Saturday night, that will be their 3rd game in as many nights, as they are on the road in Columbus Friday night. They will be hoping to gain some ground on Augusta, Columbus, and Knoxville in the standings.
