TONIGHT: The Orlando Solar Bears (34-21-4-1) take on the Idaho Steelheads (35-22-3-2) less than 24 hours following a dominant 6-2 victory over Idaho. Six different players found the back of the net for the Solar Bears in the win, while Connor Ingram made 28 saves in net. Orlando is 3-0-0-1 over its last four games.
PLAYOFF PICTURE: The win by the Solar Bears on Saturday, combined with South Carolina's 4-3 loss to Florida, has reduced Orlando's magic number to clinch a spot in the 2019 Kelly Cup Playoffs to six points.
MONFREDO MAKES RETURN: Solar Bears captain Mike Monfredo is slated to make his return to the lineup tonight after serving a one-game suspension on Saturday. Prior to Saturday, the veteran defenseman had been the only player on Orlando's roster to have skated in every game this season. The Solar Bears are 15-6-1-0 when Monfredo has recorded a point. Monfredo is seven penalty minutes away from breaking Ian Slater's single-season club record for penalty minutes (155), set during the 2013-14 season.
SHARP-SHOOTERS: The Solar Bears are currently the only team in the ECHL with two players who rank among the league's top 10 in shooting percentage. Troy Bourke is fourth with 10 goals on 44 shots (22.7%), while Otto Somppi ranks ninth with eight goals on 37 shots (21.6%). Both players scored in Orlando's win on Saturday over Idaho.
DONAGHEY CONTINUES CLIMB: With five points (1g-4a) over his last three games, defenseman Cody Donaghey continues to make his way up the ECHL defensemen scoring ladder. Donaghey currently sits eighth in the league in scoring among blueliners with 37 points (13g-24a) and is tied for second among defensemen with six power-play goals.
