New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution (7-1-2; 23 pts.) will visit FC Dallas (1-4-4; 7 pts.) on Sunday night for a 9:00 p.m. ET kickoff at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. The match airs locally on TV38 and on myRITV in Rhode Island, as well as on ESPN+ for out-of-market subscribers. The contest is available on the radio on 98.5 The Sports Hub and 1260 AM Nossa Radio.
New England, aiming for its first six-game winning streak since 2015, enters Sunday looking to build on the club's fastest start through 10 games (23 points). Currently sitting atop the Eastern Conference table, the Revolution's seven victories are level with Seattle for the most in MLS. Winners of two straight on the road, New England will look to add to its MLS-best 13 away wins (regular season and playoffs) since Bruce Arena took the helm in June 2019. The winningest active head coach in MLS, Arena is 23-11-18 with New England and holds a 16-11-5 all-time record against Dallas. This weekend's contest will be the Revs' first of two meetings against Western Conference opposition this season.
The Revs will be led into action by the league's last two MLS Player of the Week award winners in captain Carles Gil and goalkeeper Matt Turner. Gil earned the honor for Week 9 after carrying New England's attack in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the New York Red Bulls, in which he notched his first three-assist performance in MLS. The 28-year-old Spaniard has logged assists in five consecutive games, a career-long streak, and his league-leading 10 helpers are double the second-place total. Gil, now only the second player in MLS history to record 10 assists through 10 games, has assisted on five straight Revolution goals, two shy of the league record for consecutive team goals assisted. Gil's third and final assist on Wednesday led to forward Gustavo Bou's fourth tally of the season, now tied with Adam Buksa for the Revs' lead. Bou has logged three goals and one assist in his last three appearances, one game shy of his career-best streak of four straight games with a goal. The Revolution remain unbeaten across all competitions when Gil logs an assist (18-0-5) or when Bou scores a goal (13-0-7).
The week prior, goalkeeper Matt Turner was voted Player of the Week for Week 8 following a seven-save effort against New York City FC on June 19. With one more win, Turner will match his regular season career high of eight victories. Also in the defensive end, veteran center back Andrew Farrell is one game shy of his 250th MLS regular season appearance, all with New England. He will become the fourth player to play 250 MLS games in a Revs uniform, and with 58 minutes played, will become the third Revs player to eclipse 22,000 minutes played, joining Shalrie Joseph and Matt Reis. Farrell leads all MLS outfield players - and ranks second overall - in games played, starts, and minutes since 2013.
Wednesday's triumph at Gillette Stadium featured goals from Bou, defender DeJuan Jones, and midfielder Tajon Buchanan, giving the club nine different goal scorers through 10 games. Jones earned his first career spot on the MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week for his performance. The Revs' potent attack has produced three goals in back-to-back games and will look to do so in a third straight match for the first time since 2005. New England's offense ranks among the league leaders in goals scored (4th - 17), chances created (2nd - 116), shots on goal (5th - 53), and goal differential (T-3rd - +6).
Dallas, currently in 13th place in the Western Conference, carries an unbeaten 1-0-4 home record into Sunday's match. Guided by third-year head coach Luchi Gonzalez, Dallas has scored just one goal over its last three games including Wednesday's 2-0 defeat at Los Angeles FC. Forwards Jáder Obrian and Ricardo Pepi (2) are tied for the team lead in goals scored. New England is 23-18-4 in the all-time series against Dallas, with an 11-10-3 road mark against the MLS original side.
