THE MATCHUP:
Bakersfield has seen what was a 13-point lead in the Pacific Division dwindle down to six points, with the red-hot Stockton Thunder on their trail. Stockton is 7-2-0-1 in their last 10 games, and
9-2-1-3 since losing to the Condors on Jan. 8. Two of those non-wins have come against Bakersfield as well. The two clubs
face off for the ninth time this season, in what will be a 12-game season series and a two-game weekend series, with another match on Saturday. Bakersfield has taken the last three contests, scoring a combined 16 goals in the process, but prior to that, the Thunder had won four in a row in this back-and-forth series. Bakersfield holds a 25-12-3 mark all-time against Stockton
CONDORS NOTES:
D Sasha Pokulok put up five assists in his seven games with the Springfield Falcons on his recent AHL stint... G Tyler Sims became the second goalie to record a shutout in his Condors debut, stopping 26 shots last Sunday against Ontario. The other was Justin Pogge, back on Opening Night... F Stephane Goulet, who tied a Condors record with six points last Sunday, is the Condors active points leader against the Thunder, with 6g-3a-9pts. Goulet played parts of three seasons with Stockton prior to signing with Bakersfield last summer... rookie D Ray Eichenlaub went 25 games before recording his first pro point. He now has 1g-3a in his last five games, and had two assists on Sunday... RW Erick Lizon leads the team with 145 penalty minutes and is ranked in the top 10 in the league. He is on pace to be the first Condor since Kevin Kotyluk (201 PIM) in 2005-06 to break the 200 penalty minute plateau.
