Swift Current Broncos News Release
Regina, Sask. - The Swift Current Broncos (0-2-0-0) clawed their way back from a 5-1 deficit to make things interesting against the Winnipeg ICE (1-1-0-0) Monday night, but a lack lustre opening 35 minutes put the Broncos too far behind the eight ball to come back.
Michael Farren scored his first as a Bronco to cut Winnipeg's lead in half part way through the second, but three goals in just over three minutes pushed the ICE ahead 5-1. Eric Houk and Cole Nagy scored less than two minutes apart to put the Broncos down 5-3 heading into the third.
Aiden Bulych then scored one minute into the final period to get the Broncos to within one, but that was as close as they would get in a 6-4 loss.
Regina also dropped to 0-2-0-0 with a 6-3 loss in their last game against the Saskatoon Blades on Sunday. The Pats pulled even just over the halfway mark of the third period with a power-play goal, but the Blades responded with two goals 24 seconds apart to seal the victory.
2005-born forward Connor Bedard scored for the Pats on Sunday, his third goal in his first two WHL games. He was the first WHL player to ever be granted exceptional player status and allowed to jump to the WHL full time at the age of 15 after being selected first overall by Regina in the 2020 WHL Draft.
The two teams split the season series in the 2019-20 season with the Broncos wins coming in 2-1, 7-5 and 5-4 shootout final scores. Regina's wins were 6-0, 4-2 and 6-2.
The pre-game show for Living Sky Casino Broncos Hockey on The Eagle 94.1 begins at 7:30.
