March 16, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
The Brandon Wheat Kings are set to face the Prince Albert Raiders for the first time this season from Regina's Brandt Centre at 5pm.
So far the Raiders and Wheat Kings share third place in the East Division after the Wheat Kings lost in overtime to the Moose Jaw Warriors on Friday and beat the Winnipeg ICE in regulation on Saturday, and the Raiders beat the Regina Pats on Friday and lost to the Warriors in a shootout on Sunday.
After the Western Hockey League playoffs were cancelled last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Raiders enter the 2020-21 season as the still-reigning Western Hockey League champions after winning the Ed Chynoweth Cup back in 2019.
The Wheat Kings and Raiders faced each other six times last season with the Raiders getting the upper hand in four of the contests. The last meeting was on March 7th, 2020 when the Raiders came to Brandon for the second game of a Wheat Kings back-to-back series against the Edmonton Oil Kings and Raiders.
