Iowa Cubs News Release

DES MOINES - The Iowa Cubs (25-33) snapped a three-game losing streak, topping the Oklahoma City Dodgers (30-25) 5-4 in game one of a double-header, Wednesday at Principal Park.

The third inning was vital to Iowa's win as the home team sent all nine batters to the plate to score four. Jeimer Candelario sent a bloop-single to left with the bases loaded to drive in a run and Victor Caratini followed with a bases-clearing double to give the I-Cubs the 4-0 advantage.

On the other side, Dylan Floro kept Oklahoma City quiet. The righty matched a season-best with four innings pitched and allowed just four base runners on three hits and a walk. Andury Acevedo (1-0), making his Iowa Cubs debut, allowed a run in two innings of work, but Iowa's offense helped him to the win.

Iowa added necessary insurance in the fifth as Chris Dominguez knocked a single, stole second and then came around to score on a double from Bijan Rademacher. The Dodgers made it interesting with a run in the sixth and a three-run seventh, but Iowa cut down the effort in time. Manny Parra got the final out of the ballgame to take the save, the second of his professional career.

Jacob Hannemann continued his hot Triple-A start, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases. He is 6-for-12 since joining Iowa Monday. Rademacher also wields a hot bat, going 2-for-3 today to extend his hitting streak to seven games. Iowa and Oklahoma City play the second game of the double-header at Principal Park tonight at 7:08 p.m. For more information or tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
