Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Salt Lake Bees rallied for their fifth walk-off victory of the season, scoring two in the ninth to defeat the Las Vegas 51s, 2-1, Tuesday night at Smith's Ballpark.

After Las Vegas plated a run in the top of the first on a Kevin Plawecki RBI single, both teams stayed off the scoreboard until the bottom of the ninth. Jefry Marte launched a game-tying solo homer to left-center with one out, Carlos Perez lifted a two-out triple into the right field corner and Cesar Puello lined the first pitch he saw down the right field line, completing the comeback and scoring Perez. Perez reached base in all four of his plate appearances, raising his season batting average to .412.

Eight-year major league veteran Doug Fister started on the mound for the Bees and allowed one earned run in five innings, striking out seven. Cody Ege worked two and two-thirds shutout innings in relief of Fister, striking out three, and Damien Magnifico (2-0) recorded the final four outs to earn the victory.

"I've been doing a lot of work before I was signed, so I really feel like I'm ready to go," Fister, who signed with the Angels on May 20, said after the game. "Right now, I'm just taking it day by day, fine-tuning each pitch, and I feel like I'm in a good spot."

The Bees and 51s continue their four game series Wednesday night at Smith's Ballpark, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05. For tickets and additional information, visit slbees.com.
