
Aces Win 8-3, Look for Series Sweep Thursday

TACOMA, WASH. - The Reno Aces battled the Tacoma Rainiers Wednesday afternoon from Cheney Stadium. D-backs number one prospect Anthony Banda started on the mound for Reno, delivering six innings, allowing six hits while striking out five. The Reno offense was led by Ildemaro Vargas, who went 3-for-5 on the day with 2 RBI. Vargas is 11-for-15 (.733) in the Tacoma series with two home runs and nine RBI.
Tacoma got into the scoring column in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Rainiers got to the number one prospect in the bottom of the fourth inning. A leadoff single by Leonys Martin followed by a one-out two-run home off the bat of Daniel Vogelbach gave Tacoma a 2-0 lead. The next three Rainiers would reach base safely, plating another run on a Tyler ONeill double down the left field line.
Reno's offense would come alive in the top of the 6th innings. Shortstop Jack Reinheimer and outfielder Oswaldo Arcia each singled with one out giving Christian Walker a RBI opportunity. Walker delivered with a towering three-run home run nearly leaving Cheney Stadium. Walker leads the Pacific Coast League in homers with 17. The three-run shot also tied Walker for the PCL RBI lead with teammate Oswaldo Arcia at 61.
Erik Davis came into the ballgame for Anthony Banda in the bottom of the seventh inning. The hard-throwing right-hander allowed one hit, hit a batter and struck out one to keep the game tied at three. Reno broke it open in the top of the eight - plating three in the inning. Reinheimer to score and Arcia each singled to start the inning. Walker hit his 14th double of the season Reinheimer and give him the PCL lead in RBI with 62. Socrates Brito joined the party with a RBI single, and Carlos Rivero capped off the scoring outburst with a sacrifice fly.
The win brings Reno to a record of 38-22 on the season, five games up on the Rainiers in the Pacific Northern Division. Reno will go for the series sweep tomorrow night at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma. The first pitch is slated for 7:05 P.M
