TONIGHT'S GAME: The Louisville Bats begin a three-game series against Rochester tonight, with just 10 games left to play at Louisville Slugger Field this season. Right-hander Tyler Mahle starts for the Bats on Major League rehab assignment tonight, the ninth rehabber Louisville's had this season.

AGAINST ROCHESTER: Louisville has won 3 consecutive series against Rochester, including last week when they took 2 of 3 from the Red Wings at Frontier Field from August 9-11. The Red Wings are the final IL club to visit Louisville for the first time in 2019, with only Indianapolis and Columbus left on the home schedule following the current weekend series.

TRENDING UP: In 33 games since the All-Star break, the Bats own a 19-14 record and +25 run differential, both of which rank best in their division. Despite last night's loss, Louisville has still won 5 of its last 7 games.

IL West in the Second Half

Club W-L Pct. R/RA Diff.

LOUISVILLE 19-14 .576 163/138 +25

Indianapolis 16-17 .485 149/173 -24

Toledo 15-18 .455 180/172 +8

Columbus 14-19 .424 156/176 -20

#PITCHERSWHORAKE: Starting pitcher Vladimir Gutierrez had one of the best nights of his career on Thursday, striking out 10 batters and also connecting for his first career home run. It was the second straight night a Louisville pitcher's homered, joining Jesus Reyes, who did it Wednesday.

- It's just the second time in franchise history that LOU's had pitchers homer in back-to-back games, previously occurring on May 30-31, 1994 when Brian Barber and Rigo Beltran did it for the Redbirds vs. Buffalo.

- Reyes and Gutierrez have combined for as many pitcher home runs in 2 nights for Louisville as the club had in 8 seasons (2011-18). Interestingly, 3 of the last 4 homers by LOU pitchers have come against Lehigh Valley.

#PITCHERSWHOPITCH: Louisville's pitching staff has been among the best in the IL over the last month and a half. Since July 1, the Bats own the best ERA (3.78) in the International League.

Lowest Earned Run Average (Since July 1)

LOUISVILLE 3.78 149er/354.2ip

Gwinnett 3.84 148er/347.0ip

Syracuse 4.25 165er/349.1ip

EVEN STEVEN: Rochester comes into play tonight with a 61-61 record, just the second time Louisville will play an even .500 team this season, only occurring on April 4 when the recordless Bats and Toledo Mud Hens squared off on Opening Day. LOU has actually fared better against above-.500 clubs this season, going 34-41 (.453) against above-.500 teams, 0-1 (.000) against .500 teams, and 18-28 (.391) against below-.500.

600 RUNS: The Bats come into play tonight with 597 runs as a club this season, 3 shy of reaching the 600-run mark for the first time since 2011. Last season, Louisville scored 576 runs in 137 games, averaging 4.2 runs/game. This season, LOU has averaged 4.9 runs/game, scoring 597 times in 122 games.

THEY TRY TO MAKE ME GO TO...: Mahle marks the ninth MLB rehabber Louisville's had this season, surpassing the 8 rehabbers they had in 2018. Mahle joins C Tucker Barnhart, IF Alex Blandino, C Curt Casali, C Kyle Farmer, IF Scooter Gennett, LHP Wandy Peralta, RHP Robert Stephenson and LHP Alex Wood.
