Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Playing Tough

The IronBirds fell by a final score of 1-0 Wednesday evening to the Hudson Valley Renegades. The McNamara division leaders were played tough by the IronBirds in the first game of a two game set. Hudson Valley would put up the lone run in the third inning as Coty Blanchard came around to score off the bat of Casey Gillaspie. Gillaspie lined a ground ball off the glove of IronBirds' RHP Tanner Chleborad which forced Federico Castagnini to charge. Castagnini's off balanced throw went wide of Riley Palmer at first base which allowed Blanchard to come around and score the only run of the game.

Pitching Cycle

Facing off against the McNamera division leaders was a tough task for the IronBirds' pitching staff as RHP Tanner Chleborad got the start for the IronBirds. Chleborad went 3.2 innings, allowing seven hits, one run and racked up three strikeouts. After a bases loaded jam in the fourth, Nigel Nootbaar came on in relief in Chelborad. Nootbaar was able to get the final out of the fourth inning as the Renegades would not score. In the fifth, Bobby Bundy took the mound for two innings in an IronBirds uniform. The bullpen concluded its night as Augey Bill relieved Bundy in the seventh. Bill was spectacular as he went three complete innings where he gave up just two hits and struck out a season high six. Despite the lackluster offense Wednesday night, the IronBirds' pitching staff continued to dominate.

Bundy Brothers

Bobby Bundy took the mound for the first time in an IronBirds uniform Wednesday night as he continued his minor league rehab assignment. Bundy went two complete innings where he walked one and struck out one. He threw 21 pitches, 13 of those were strikes.

On the Mound tonight...

The IronBirds will send out RHP Lucas Long as Aberdeen looks to walk away with a series split. Long will square off against Renegades RHP Jose Alonzo. This is the final game of a two game set between the IronBirds and Renegades. Tomorrow night, the IronBirds begin a three game series with the Lowell Spinners.
