
Spinners Walk-Off Again on Tigers

Lowell, MA "" The Lowell Spinners (32-32) defeated the Connecticut Tigers (34-31) by the score of 6-5 Thursday night at LeLachuer Park. In the bottom of the 10th inning, SS Mauricio Dubon (3-6) with the clutch walk-off RBI single that scored DH Cisco Tellez (1-5) as the Spinners won on a walk-off for the second consecutive night.
With the Tigers trailing 3-0, RF Mike Gerber (1-5) put the Tigers on the scoreboard with a fourth inning solo home run and cut the deficit to 3-1. It was Gerber's seventh home run of the season which tied Dean Green (2011) and Jake Stewart (2012) for second all-time on the Connecticut Tigers home run list. The RBI on the home run gave Gerber 36 RBIs which gives him sole possession of third place on the Tigers all-time RBI list.
3B Steven Fuentes (3-5) put together a solid performance at the plate as he picked up three hits including a triple. The Tigers were trailing 4-2 in the top of the eighth inning, C Franklin Navarro (2-5) hit a two run double to tie the game at 4-4. The offense collected 13 hits, but struggled with runners on base as they were just 1-for-14 with runners on and left 12 stranded.
In his 12th start of the season, RHP Fernando Perez pitched six strong innings as he gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits while striking out six batters in a no decision. The Tigers had a 5-4 after scoring three runs in the eighth inning. RHP Josh Laxer went back in the game for his second inning of work and surrendered the lead on an RBI groundout by 2B Deiner Lopez (1-3). RHP Joe Jimenez (2-2) suffered his second loss of the season after 0.2 innings pitched as he gave up the walk-off single to Dubon in the 10th.
The Tigers head home for a six-game homestand starting with a three-game series with the Hudson Valley Renegades (Rays). In game one of the series, Tigers RHP Chase Edwards (5-3, 3.09) is slated to face Renegades RHP Enderson Franco (6-2, 2.91). Tomorrow is Norwich Navigators Night! For one night only the Connecticut Tigers become the Norwich Navigators. It is also Friday Night Fireworks. After the final out of the baseball game stay tuned for a spectacular fireworks display presented by US Foods.
