River Otters Most Recent Game: Sunday, March 5: Quad City 3, Missouri 1
Chad Woollard scored a goal and added an assist as the Quad City Mallards defeated the Missouri River Otters 3-1 at the Family Arena.
Quad City scored on their first shot of the game when Matt Radoslovich beat Brenden Cuthbert with a shot 56 seconds into the first period. The River Otters struck back six minutes later when Jeff Brown rammed home the rebound of a Mark Odut shot. Six minutes later the Mallards regained the lead when Chad Woollard powered a one-timer behind Cuthbert. The lone goal in the second period came off the stick of Mallards forward Rafal Martynowski to put his team up 3-1 headed to the final period. Neither team scored in the third period. Jason Tapp made 17 saves in the victory while Cuthbert made 25 saves in defeat.
Mechanics Most Recent Game: Saturday, March 4: Motor City 3, Roanoke 1
Rod Branch made 26 saves and as his Motor City Mechanics defeated the Roanoke Valley Vipers 3-1 at Great Lakes Sports City. Tom Kotsopoulos got the scoring started for Motor City in the first period, but the Valley Vipers came back and tied the game at one on a Mark Scott power-play goal. Adam Edinger broke the tie two minutes into the second period, and Chris Gignac added an empty-netter to seal the deal for the Mechanics.
Most Recent Meeting: Saturday. February 4: Motor City 6, Missouri 2
Adam Edinger scored a third-period hat-trick to lead the Motor City Mechanics past the Missouri River Otters 6-2 in front of 3,556 fans at the Family Arena.
The lone goal in the first period came on a Mechanics power play. Kevin Reiter stopped the initial shot from the point by Ryan Van Buskirk, but David Herring banged home the rebound to give his squad the lead. The River Otters tied the game seven minutes into the second period on a lightning-quick shot from Jim Duhart, but Motor City struck for the next two goals, both accurate one-timers off the stick of Vlad Serov. The Mechanics dominated the third period, getting three goals from Edinger to take command of the game. Tim O'Connell scored one for the River Otters but it wasn't enough and the Mechanics skated off with the 6-2 victory. Branch made 31 saves in the victory while Reiter made 24 saves in defeat.
Road Warriors: The road team has won all five games so far in the season series between the River Otters and the Mechanics. This is the sixth and final meeting between these two teams this season.
The Names' Mac: River Otters rookie Brad MacMillan is tied for the team lead with four points in the last five games. The physical winger also has 31 penalty minutes during that span.
Duey Approaches 500: River Otters captain Jim Duhart is fast approaching 500 goals as a professional. The veteran sniper has notched 490 goals during the course of his 893-game professional career. He currently leads the River Otters with 21 goals and 43 points on the season.
Successful Versus Central: The River Otters have played very well against Central Division opponents this season, with an 11-11-2 record in those games. In match-ups against the Western and Eastern Divisions the River Otters are 7-23-2.
The Passmaster: Mechanics forward Peter Szabo has been an assist-machine against Missouri this season, with seven assists in the five meetings between the two teams.
