DANBURY, CT--Konstantin Kalmikov netted a hat trick, while the Jackals made up two deficits during the game as the Danbury Trashers fell to Elmira 6-4 on Friday night at the Danbury Ice Arena.

Things looked promising for Danbury as they jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead on goals from JM Daoust and Alex Goupil before Kalmikov's first goal was scored on a breakaway at the 16:34 mark to cut Danbury's lead to 2-1 heading into the first intermission.

Sam Paolini then tied the score at the 4:05 mark while Shawn Collymore scored at the 6:21 mark to give Danbury a 3-2 lead. However, Jarrett Konkle would tie the score at 3-3 as he knocked in his own rebound past Sly Daigle at the 14:57 mark, followed by a Craig MacDonald goal just 1:04 later to give the Jackals a 4-3 lead after the second period.

Mario Larocque's 5th goal of the season tied the score at 4-4 as he scored in his return since an injury that sidelined him since January 8th, assisted by Daoust and Jeff Daw, who finished with two assists.

Mike Omicioli took a major slashing penalty at the 16:56 mark which gave the Jackals a power play for the remainder of regulation. Kalmikov regained the Jackals lead at the 17:41 mark, then scored an empty netter at 19:03 as the Trashers were trying to tie the score in the final minute.

Daigle stopped 24 of 29 shots while Tyson Gajda saved 39 of 43 in Elmira's win. The Trashers still have a seven point lead over Adirondack, who currently has five games in hand on Danbury with 15 left to play in the regular season.

Danbury returns to the ice on Saturday March 11th against Rockford starting at 7:30pm. Tickets are available at DanburyTrashers.com or by calling 866-565-PUCK. For more information on the promotion, visit DanburyTrashers.com
