The Regina Pats (29-23-5-0) wrap up their three in three weekend on Sunday afternoon on the road against the Saskatoon Blades (27-26-2-1). Puck drop is at 4 p.m. at the SaskTel Centre. The Pats picked up a 4-2 win on home ice on Saturday night over the Lethbridge Hurricanes, while the Blades won at home as well, 6-3 over the Prince Albert Raiders. Today is the seventh of eight meetings on the season between the Pats and Blades, Regina holds a 2-2-2-0 record in the season series. The Lead Up: Paddock leads Pats past Hurricanes Saturday
The Regina Pats got 33 saves from Max Paddock in a 4-2 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday night at the Brandt Centre. Regina opened the scoring early in the first when Libor Hajek got a wrist shot through from the blueline for his 11th of the season. The Hurricanes powerplay tied it up late in the period and it was 1-1 after one. In the second, Sam Steel made an unbelievable play to find Matt Bradley back door and he scored his 32nd to give Regina the 2-1 lead. Steel added to the lead with a powerplay goal, his 21st and it was 3-1 after 40 minutes. In the third, Cale Fleury scored shorthanded for his 10th to extend the lead to 4-1. Lethbridge got one back with 14 seconds left, but the Pats took the two points in a 4-2 final.
Head to Head
Tonight is the seventh of eight meetings between the Pats and Blades, Regina is 2-2-2-0 in the season series. Sam Steel leads the Pats with 10 points in four games against Saskatoon, Matt Bradley has eight points in six games and Josh Mahura seven points in four games. The Blades Braylon Shmyr has put up 13 points against Regina this season while Josh Paterson, Kirby Dach and Brad Goethals each have five points. The Pats are currently five points ahead of the Blades for the first wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference.
Two's the Max
Pats goaltender Max Paddock is on a good run over his last 12 games. The 17-year-old has given up two goals or less in nine of his last 12 appearances. The product of Brandon, MB has gone 5-2-1-0 in that stretch with a 2.79 goals against average and a .909 save percentage. For the season, Paddock is 9-5-1 with a 3.23 GAA and a .897 SV%.
New High
Pats defenceman Josh Mahura has set a new career high in points for a season with 55 points through 46 games, surpassing his previous high of 53 points from the 2016-17 season. The 19-year-old is fourth among all WHL defenceman with his 55 points this year and is second with 18 goals. He has a goal and four assists in his last four games.
