Prince Albert Raiders News Release

Prince Albert, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders (22-23-9-2) erased a two-goal third period deficit, but were unable to take the lead in a 6-5 loss to the Swift Current Broncs (40-13-3-1) on Sunday afternoon at the Art Hauser Centre.

It was the Raiders' third loss in a row after earning points in nine straight games.

The Broncos jumped out to the lead when Andrew Fyten collected a rebound in the slot and snapped it past Ian Scot 3:25 into the game. Four minutes later, Nikita Krivokrasov scored his second goal of the year when he slid it through Stuart Skinner to make it 1-1.

Late in the frame, Fyten tallied his second of the period on a rebound from Beck Malenstyn's wraparound attempt to put Swift Current up 2-1. Before the end of the period, Jordy Stallard tied it with his 37th goal - and 15th on the power play - this season.

The Raiders grabbed their first lead of the game 1:59 into the second. Curtis Miske's shot ricocheted off of Kody McDonald in front of the net and past Skinner, giving the Raiders a 3-2 lead.

The Broncos responded with three straight goals to take a 5-3 lead. First, Glenn Gawdin buried a cross-crease pass on a power play to tie the game. Then, Josh Anderson's seeing-eye shot got through traffic from the blueline and past Scott. Tyler Steenbergen wrapped up the scoring in the period with a quick shot that beat Scott, ending the Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick's night.

Early in the third, the Raiders got back within one. McDonald banked a shot from behind the net off Skinner and over the goal line 4:54 into the frame to make it 5-4. With 6:42 to play, Cole Fonstad tied the game. He circled to the front of the net from the corner and rifled a shot past Skinner to level the score at 5-5.

With 4:02 left, Max Patterson scored the game-winning goal. The Broncos forced a turnover on a drop pass in the Raiders' end. After Jeremy Masella blocked the initial shot, Patterson collected the rebound and found the back of the net.

The Raiders pushed for the equalizer late, but Skinner turned aside the remaining shots to preserve the win. Skinner stopped 23 shots to earn the win. Curtis Meger made 12 saves in relief. Scott turned away 11 shots before being pulled.

Up next for the Raiders is a home-and-home series against the Brandon Wheat Kings, which begins on Friday night at the Art Hauser Centre. Tickets are available at raiderhockey.com, the Raider Office, or by calling 306-764-5348.
