November 19, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Kingston Frontenacs News Release
The Kingston Frontenacs face the Peterborough Petes tonight at 7:00 pm at Leon's Centre, looking for a fourth consecutive win over the East Division rivals. The Black and Gold are coming off an emotional weekend capped off with a 5-4 win on Saturday afternoon versus Mississauga on a Shane Wright shootout winner. Kingston will catch a tired team playing on consecutive nights, with the Petes taking on the Hamilton Bulldogs on Thursday.
Tonight's game is the team's Hockey Fights Cancer Night. The team will be wearing special jerseys in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. After the game, the jerseys will be put up for auction with all proceeds going to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Last Game
After 3-1 and 6-1 wins, the teams played a much closer affair on November 7 in Kingston during the third of twelve games between the two foes. The Fronts stormed back from an early two-goal deficit in the first period stealing a 6-5 OT win at the Leon's Centre in the last matchup. Maddox Callens scored the third of three in the final period to take a 5-4 lead before a last-minute tally by leading Peterborough rookie-scorer Nick Lardis sent the game to overtime. Rookie Matthew Soto had a pair of goals with captain Shane Wright and Martin Chromiak, each recording four assists in the win. In rookie OHL scoring, Soto (14) enters Friday night fourth-overall in points, three behind leader Calum Ritchie of Oshawa (17), and he sits tied for third in assists (10), just two back of North Bay's Ty Nelson.
For Petes Sake
On Thursday night, the Petes were thrashed 10-6 at home against the Hamilton Bulldogs. Tucker Robertson scored his first career hattrick on four points, and Joe Carroll added three points in the loss.
The Petes have won one game in overtime (5-4 versus Barrie on November 13) in their last seven, dating back to their previous regulation win on October 30. Sitting last in the East Division standings, the Petes have given up a league-high 76 goals against. However, head coach Luca Caputi's squad will need to play a sound defensive game as the Petes have an excellent offence scoring just two fewer goals than the Frontenacs.
Edmonds
Assistant Captain Lucas Edmonds scored the late-game tying goal last Saturday against the Steelheads to get the game to overtime. It marks just one of many times the rookie overager has been vital in a Kingston victory. He leads Kingston in all offensive categories and rides an 11-point season-high five-game point streak into Friday's matchup with Peterborough (4G,7A).
Marooning The Fronts
Emmett Sproule and Samual Mayer have been challenging for Kingston in the previous matchups. Sproule has five points in the three games versus Kingston and is on an OHL-leading 15-game point streak that started in the Petes opener.
The Fronts will see plenty of Mayer in the Petes zone. The former OHL first-round selection (15th-overall 2020) sees 25+ minutes a game using his big frame making life uncomfortable for opposition forwards, currently second overall in PIM's (28) for defencemen in the league. The sturdy defender has two goals against Kingston and sits 20th-overall in scoring from the point (8). He is tied with Kingston's Lucas Peric for fourth in goals (4).
