Brampton Steelheads News Release

The Mississauga Steelheads put on a dominating performance on the road, routing the IceDogs 7-1.

First Period

The Steelheads were looking to keep their seven-game point streak alive against the Niagara Icedogs.

Steelheads drew first blood at the 5:57 mark, courtesy of a beautiful Ethan Del Mastro pass to Ty Collins from the neutral zone, who made no mistake by sneaking the shot past IceDogs netminder Tucker Tynan for a 1-0 lead.

The Steelheads closed the period on a high note, extending the lead as Del Mastro capitalized an IceDogs defensive miscue, going top-shelf past the Niagara netminder for a 2-0 lead with three seconds left on the clock. DelBelBBelluz and James Hardie received the assists.

Second Period

It was another solid twenty minutes of action by the Steelheads. After Niagara got on the board with Danil Gushchin's power-play goal at the 2:17 mark, the Steelheads responded 56 seconds later. James Hardie notched his 11th goal of the season, extending the lead back to 3-1. DelBelBelluz and Collins were credited the assist.

The IceDogs thought they cut the lead back to one after Anthony Agostinelli scored midway through the second period, but the goal was overturned. The Steelheads responded shortly after as Zakary Lavoie scored his first career OHL goal after a rebound shot past Tynan. Owen Beck was credited with the assist on the milestone goal.

The Steelheads got into penalty trouble as the period went on, at one point down to a 5-on-3 disadvantage. But the Steelheads proved why they have the second-ranked penalty kill, doing a stellar job ending both penalties.

Aidan Prueter capped the victory for the blue and white with his third goal of the season, courtesy of a 2-on-1 breakaway, shooting through Tynan for a 7-1 lead.
