Rebound at Home

Game 4 didn't end with the result they wanted, but the Winterhawks knew this wouldn't be easy. The good news is they have the chance to respond right away with Game 5 on home ice tonight - and another chance to advance to the second round.

"I think we knew they were going to come out strong with their season on the line and we didn't get the start we wanted, but I thought we hung in there and did a good job throwing what we could," said team captain Gabe Klassen after last night's contest. "It's a quick turnaround. It's going to be a good game tomorrow and I think we're going to be ready for it."

It's playoff hockey, in our house, on a Saturday night - let 'em hear ya tonight, Hawks fans!

On the Front Foot

Portland fell behind early in Friday's tilt by coughing up two early goals, allowing Everett to build confidence in a do-or-die scenario. The stakes are the same tonight, and after blitzing the 'Tips in Games 2 & 3 with quick starts and goals in all three periods, the first goal is a must-have tonight.

During the regular season, the Winterhawks won 27 of the 34 contests in which they scored first, versus just 13 of 34 when their opponent lit the lamp earliest. The story has been mostly the same in the postseason, outside of a Game 1 outlier when the Hawks responded to a quick Everett goal in Game 1 to notch a comeback win. Sluggish at the outset last night, expect a fast-paced opening from the hosts this evening.
