April 8, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
The Saskatoon Blades took a 3-2 first-round series lead Friday beating the Regina Pats 4-2 at SaskTel Centre.
Blades forward Egor Sidorov scored two goals giving him five in as many games and seven points total. Netminder Ethan Chadwick was sensational in net stopping 20 of 22 Pats shots for his third straight win this postseason.
After losing both times at home in games 1 and 2, the Blades made up for it in front of 12,083 Bridge City faithful who were deafening. Saskatoon has shown nothing but resilience and determination since going down 2-0 in the series, winning both Game 3 and 4 on the road 4-3 in overtime, only to come back and show just how good they are. The Blades have outshot the Pats every game in the series, doing so tonight 33-22.
The Blue and Gold are in the drivers seat heading to Regina Saturday to close out the best-of-seven series and finish their provincial rivals season.
NEXT GAME: The Blades travel to the Brandt Centre for Game 6 Saturday, looking to finish the series and advance to the second round.
Puck drop for the potential series-clinching game is 7:00pm!
