Proud to have you all here!

It's a special night inside the VMC as the Winterhawks host Pride Night in an effort to foster a more inclusive and accepting environment in hockey! A portion of proceeds from tonight will go to SMYRC (Sexual & Gender Minority Youth Resource Center), including Pride Night t-shirt sales and chuck-a-puck sales. Winterhawks sticks taped with pride tape will also be for sale on the concourse, along with a jersey.

LEARN MORE ABOUT SMYRC HERE

Additionally, players from both clubs will sport pride tape on their sticks during warmups, and SMYRC representatives will be on hand to sound the storm warning siren during the first intermission.

And stay tuned to the video board for a recap of this week's earlier chat with Brock McGillis, a former major junior and pro hockey player and current LGBTQ+ rights activist, who talked with Winterhawks players, coaches and staff to "humanize, engage and educate in the hopes of creating shift makers within the culture." Our sincerest thanks to Brock for his time and for sharing his story with us this week!

Welcome back, Jonas!

Tonight also features a homecoming for a former Winterhawks fan favorite! Defenseman Jonas Brøndberg, dealt to Prince George in late December 2021 for goaltender Taylor Gauthier, makes his VMC debut as a member of the away team tonight. Brøndberg will be recognized with a video tribute on the big screen during tonight's game.

On the flip side, should Gauthier get the start, it'll be his first start against the Cougars in five years of junior hockey. Gauthier has settled in well to life in Portland with five wins in five starts and a sterling .937% save percentage and could have the opportunity to pick up a win over the Cougars for the first time tonight.

Another tripleheader

For the third straight weekend, the Hawks are facing a run of three consecutive games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The three-in-three sets have been kind to Portland so far as the team is 5-0-0-1 since Jan. 14, but another stiff test awaits as they take on the Cougars tonight, then head to Seattle tomorrow before hosting Tri-City on Sunday. There's plenty of hockey ahead this weekend, so let's get it started with a win!

WIN A TOYOTA:

Back for another season, fans 18+ who reside in Oregon or Southwest Washington can ENTER TO WIN a brand new Toyota car, truck, or SUV.

Tonight, we are cheering on: Brent N. from Tualatin, OR
