
Pats Host Wheat Kings at Home on Friday

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats (16-17-0-1) host the Brandon Wheat Kings (18-14-2-2) on Friday at 7:00 p.m., inside the Brandt Centre.
The Pats are coming off a 4-0 victory over the Prince Albert Raiders on Tuesday night, as Matthew Kieper made 17 saves for his first career shutout. Connor Bedard totaled a career high tying four points (1G-3A) while Tanner Howe scored twice four his fourth two goal game of the season. The 17 shots allowed was a season low for the Pats as they outshot Prince Albert 25-17 while going 1-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
The Pats are now winners of three of their last four games (3-0-1) and take a 4-1 season series lead over the Raiders.
For the Wheat Kings, they're playing their first game since January 16th, where they defeated the Calgary Hitmen 3-2 in overtime at home. Nolan Ritchie scored twice while both Riley Ginnell and Mason Ward tallied two assists. Final shots were 45-31 in favor of Calgary, as 16-year-old goaltender Carson Bjarnason made 43 saves on 45 shots in the win.
The Wheat Kings have played six games since the Christmas break (3-1-0-2) and four games in the month of January. The club went from December 27th to January 12th without playing a game, and play their first game in 12 days today.

A 17-save first career shutout for Pats goaltender Matthew Kieper on Tuesday night against Prince Albert was his first since 2019-20 season with the Winnipeg Bruins U18...first shutout by a Pats goalie since Max Paddock did so against Moose Jaw on December 28th, 2019.
Connor Bedard scored his 20th of the season on Tuesday (1G-3A), becoming the first Pats' 16-year-old to reach 20 goals in a season since Jordan Eberle scored 28 in the 2006-07 season...the record for goals by a 16-year-old in team history is 45 set by Jeff Friesen in 1992-93.
