Tonight's Matchup: The Brandon Wheat Kings head back out on the road this weekend for a trio of games in Saskatchewan. Brandon has not played since January 16th in Calgary, and will be playing their fifth, sixth and seventh straight road games this weekend.
Schedule Change: Today was orignally tabbed as a travel day for the Wheat Kings after their visit to Saskatoon was postponed due to the Blades being in Covid-19 protocol. With last minute news emerging from Prince Albert Raiders camp that their team was in the same boat, the Wheat Kings were thrust into the National Spotlight tonight with a meeting on TSN vs the Pats.
Last Time Out: 3-2 OTW @ Calgary: Nolan Ritchie scored twice, including the OT winner as the Wheat Kings knocked off the Hitmen 3-2. The win completed a four-game Alberta road trip with a record of 2-1-1-0, earning five of a possible eight points. Carson Bjarnason was excellent between the pipes, turning aside 43 saves for his 6th win of the season.

NEWS & NOTES:
On the Road Again: Due to Manitoba Government capacity limits, the Wheat Kings have not played a home game since December 30th vs Edmonton. By the time the Wheat Kings return to Westoba Place, 36 days will have passed. As of right now, the BWK are scheduled to play three games in four nights in the Wheat City starting February 4th vs Medicine Hat.
Shutting the Bjarn Door: 16-year-old rookie netminder Carson Bjarnason was thrust into the spotlight last weekend, making three consecutive starts on the road. The Carberry, MB native twice faced north of 40 shots, and turned aside 106 of 114 he faced, earning two of three wins. Dating back to December 11th, Bjarnason has won three of his last four starts.
First Goal Importance: The Wheat Kings have opened the scoring 16 times this season, and have an impressive 10-4-1-1 record in those games. On the flip side, in the 19 games when giving up the game's opening tally, the BWK are just 7-11-1-0.
