Wrapping Up on the Road

Tonight's tilt marks the Winterhawks' final away game of the regular season, and it's something of a full-circle moment as the team wraps up the road slate in the same building they began the season. Travel has been kind to Portland or much of the year, as their 23 away wins are the most of any U.S. Division team and trail only Kamloops (24) in the Western Conference.

Their prowess in hostile territory could serve the Winterhawks well in the later rounds of the playoffs. Though the club has secured home-ice advantage in round one, any meeting with Kamloops or Everett would see the Hawks loading up the bus for the majority of the games. But before we get into postseason action, they'll be keen to pick up another two points in Kennewick tonight!

Lucky Number Seven

After hitting a few bumps in the road against Tri-City to start the year, Portland figured the Americans out in January en route to six straight wins in the season series - their longest winning streak against any U.S. Division foe this year - and tonight, they'll look to make it seven in a row.

Cross Hanas has relished games against Tri-City this year, recording a whopping 21 points in just nine games to lead all Winterhawks skaters, despite having played two fewer games than his next six highest-scoring teammates. Gabe Klassen continues to pace the club's goalscoring efforts in the season series with nine, followed closely by linemate James Stefan with eight tallies this year. In total, nine Portland skaters are averaging a point-per-game pace against Tri-City this season, so who do you think steps up for the Hawks tonight?

High Five

After Jaydon Dureau (who wears #22) scored his 22nd goal of the year at 2:22 of overtime on Saturday, it seemed like the universe had aligned for the Hawks' win. Well, here's another weird one: Portland is going for its fifth straight win tonight. The team has scored five or more goals in each game of the current streak. And should the Hawks get that fifth win tonight, it'll be the - wait for it - fifth time this year that they have won five games in a row. Time to see if the universe really is on our side! 🖐
