The set-up
The Belleville Senators will welcome the Springfield Thunderbirds to the Yardmen Arena for the first time tonight.
Belleville (26-39-2-3) remains in a three-way tie with the Binghamton Devils and Laval Rocket for fifth place in the North Division. The Devils and Senators each have six games remaining while the Rocket have just five.
Springfield (29-34-5-2) sit eighth in the Atlantic Division and have won just two of its last 10 games.
The Thunderbirds have just 10 wins on the road this season in 36 opportunities while the Senators have 14 wins at the Yardmen.
Roster notes
The Senators received a big-scoring threat Tuesday as Alex Formenton joined the club for the remainder of the season after London were eliminated from the OHL playoffs.
Either Filip Gustavsson or Marcus Hogberg is expected to start for the Senators while Kyle Flanagan, Mike Blunden, Jim O'Brien, Ben Sexton and Francis Perron are out.
Previous history
The sides have met only once before with the Thunderbirds collecting a 7-4 victory on Oct. 22 as the Sens completed a three-in-three.
Who to watch
Sens defenceman Jordan Murray continues to lead the team in points from a blue-liner and over his past four games, has been playing at a point-per-game pace. Murray has eight goals and 13 assists in 57 games this season.
Curtis Valk leads the Thunderbirds in scoring this year with 54 points (18 goals) in 67 games and last time out, tallied four points in a loss to Utica.
