April 4, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hershey Bears News Release

(Hershey, PA)-The Hershey Bears conclude the road portion of the 2017-18 season this weekend as they make the trip to North Carolina to battle the Charlotte Checkers in a pair of games. At 29-34-4-5, the Bears are in 7th place in the Atlantic Division and will look to make Charlotte's road to clinching a playoff spot a bit more difficult. Hershey has had a strong season series vs. the Checkers, winning four of the six meetings on the campaign.

The Bears have dropped three of their past four contests over the last week, falling at Bridgeport, 6-4, last Wednesday, Mar. 28, and losing at Utica, 3-1, last Friday, Mar. 30. Hershey earned a 6-3 win on home ice over Laval on Mar. 31, but the Bears fell on Apr. 3 at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, 5-3.

Last Saturday, Hershey snapped a three-game skid as they doubled up Laval in the 6-3 win at Giant Center. Mathias Bau scored twice for Hershey, and forwards Dustin Gazley and Wayne Simpson each added a goal and an assist in the win. Garrett Mitchell and Hampus Gustafsson also scored for the Chocolate and White. The Bears out shot Laval 38-23. Pheonix Copley stopped 20 shots to earn his 15th win of the season between the pipes.

This Tuesday, the Bears lost a seventh straight game to the rival Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The Bears fell behind 53 seconds into the game, but Connor Hobbs' third goal of the season tied the score. Only two minutes later, the Penguins Garrett Wilson regained a lead that the Penguins would never relinquish. The Bears rallied late with third period goals from Anthony Peluso and Mathias Bau, but the Penguins tacked on an empty-net goal to secure a 5-3 win at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
