The set-up
The Belleville Senators snapped a five-game losing streak Friday night and will look for back-to-back wins in the middle game of a 3-in-3 as they host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers tonight.
The Sens (22-33-1-3) collected a big two points as they beat the Utica Comets 1-0 Friday on the road and will be looking for its second straight win for the first time since Jan. 19.
Bridgeport (27-22-5-3) are fifth in the Atlantic Division and sit just three points behind Charlotte for a playoff spot. The Sound Tigers are on a three-game winning streak.
Belleville has scored the second least amount of goals in the Eastern Conference (142) while the Sound Tigers sit just one spot above them with 151.
Roster notes
No new updates for the Senators on the roster front after last night's win in Utica.
After Danny Taylor's 32-game shutout Friday, expect Marcus Hogberg to get the nod in goal tonight against Bridgeport.
Max McCormick, Jim O'Brien and Erik Burgdoerfer are with Ottawa while Kyle Flanagan, Francis Perron and Christian Jaros have yet to return for the Senators.
Previous history
In the only previous meeting between the two sides, the Sound Tigers collected a 3-1 win on Feb. 3. Saturday's contest will be the final time the two sides meet this year.
Who to watch
Belleville's AHL All-Star Gabriel Gagne had the game-winner Friday night and snapped a seven-game goalless drought. Gagne has 17 goals this season, a team high, while his 22 points rank fifth on the team.
In his second year of pro hockey, Bridgeport defenceman Devon Toews is putting together another solid campaign as he has eight goals and 22 points in 30 games this season. He also leads the Sound Tigers in scoring for a defenceman.
