Comets Shutout for Second Straight Night

Hershey, Penn. - The Utica Comets fell to the Hershey Bears by a score of 3-0 Saturday night at the Giant Center. It was the fifth straight loss for the Comets.

Thatcher Demko and Bears' goaltender Phoenix Copley kept the game scoreless through the first 20 minutes, stopping 16 shots and 10 shots respectively.

Aaron Ness scored the first goal of the game with 12:25 remaining in the second period to take a 1-0 lead. Tyler Graovac and Joe Whitney had the assists. Chris Bourque extended the lead to 2-0 seven minutes later. Dustin Gazley and Colby Williams were credited with the assists.

Zach Sill made it 3-0 with 5:53 to go in the third period. Anthony Peluso and Jeremy Langlois registered the assists.

Demko finished with 27 saves and his record falls to 19-10-6. Copley stopped all 24 shots he faced. His record improves to 12-14-5. The Comets power play went 0-6, while the penalty kill did not allow a goal in seven attempts.

The Comets return to the ice tomorrow night against the Binghamton Devils. Puck drop at the Floyd L. Maines Veteran's Memorial Arena is at 5:05 p.m. The game can be heard on 94.9 KROCK and viewed on AHL Live.
