Green Bay Gamblers News Release
(Green Bay, WI) -) The Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) selected six players in the 2011 USHL Futures Draft on Tuesday. The six players, who were all born in 1995, will be placed on the Gamblers Affiliate List.
The Gambles selected three forwards and three defensemen. With the 6th overall pick the Gamblers selected defenseman Jordan Gross, who played this past season for Maple Grove High School in the state of Minnesota. Other defenseman selected include Alex Robert (Honeybaked Minor Midget), who won a national championship this past year at the minor midget level and Anthony Walsh (Chicago Mission Midget Minor).
Up front the Gamblers selected California native Ryan Siroky (L.A. Selects Minor Midget), Taylor Gernhofer (Dallas Stars Midget Major) and TJ Moore (Benilde St. Margaret H.S.).
The Gamblers coaching and scouting brass was thrilled with the six players selected. According to Gamblers Director of Scouting and Player Personnel John Burkart.
"We selected six players who we feel will make significant contributions to the Gamblers in the future. On the blue line, we expect big things from Gross, who is a smooth skating, offensive minded defenseman. Robert was a key contributor to his team winning a national title and Walsh was the best defenseman on a very good Chicago Mission team."
Burkart was equally excited about the three forwards.
"Siroky is a tough, physical player who will fit right into the system we have in Green Bay. Gernhofer is a big kid who has a pro shot and Moore is a combination of skill and grit." Overall we could not be more pleased."
The Gamblers will host the Indiana Ice in game 1 of the USHL Eastern Division Semi-Finals at the Resch Center on Wednesday night. The two teams will also be at the Resch on Friday for game 2. The best of five series will then shift to Indianapolis for games 3 and 4.
