Indiana Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Ice made six selections during the 2011 USHL Futures draft held today. The Ice picked up four forwards, one defenseman and a goaltender from a pool comprised of players with a 1995 birth year.

Indy used its first round pick to grab Justin Bailey from the Buffalo Regals hockey club. The Ice headed north to Canada for their next two picks, grabbing forwards Max Domi and Jeremy Gregoire.

Domi played last season with the Don Mills Flyers in Toronto and is the son of former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Tie Domi while Gregoire played for Magog in the Quebec AAA Junior Hockey League.

"The majority of the players we drafted were on our "A" list and I want to thank our North American scouts for their tireless effort this season," said VP of Player Personnel and Associate Head Coach Brad Lutsch. "We look forward to seeing these outstanding young student athletes at our June camp this year."

The Ice picked up defenseman Anthony Florentino from South Kent (CT) in the fourth round and forward Tyler Kelleher from Deerfield in the fifth. Indy rounded up the draft by picking netminder Patrick Fraser from Dexter Academy (MA).

"With some key players leaving for college hockey next season, our staff felt it was important to focus our efforts on not only prospects that can play in the USHL next season, but help us win," said General Manager and Head Coach Charlie Skjodt.

With the conclusion of today's Futures Draft, all USHL teams will begin preparation for the USHL Entry Draft scheduled this year for Monday, May 16.
