LA Galaxy News Release
CARSON, CA (Wednesday, January 14, 2004) - The Los Angeles Galaxy have reached an agreement with Los Angeles radio station KMXE 830 AM (Radiovisa) to become the new Spanish Language Radio home of the 2002 MLS Cup Champions. KMXE will broadcast all of the club's matches during the 2004 and 2005 Major League Soccer seasons as well as a weekly one-hour radio show, the team and the station announced today.
"We are extremely glad to have KMXE on board as a member of the Galaxy family for the 2004 and 2005 seasons," said Los Angeles Galaxy Vice President/General Manager Doug Hamilton. "Their station's commitment to provide quality programming to the Hispanic community matches closely our club's commitment to excellence on and off the field. Both parties truly believe in the business potential of our sport."
The 2004 campaign will mark KMXE's first as a Galaxy broadcast partner, joining KMPC 1540 AM The Ticket (English Radio), KCAL 9 (English TV) and KWHY Channel 22 (Spanish TV). KMXE 830 AM is a 50,000 watt Spanish talk radio station whose signal covers Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
KMXE will turn to veteran Los Angeles TV and radio sports personality Troy Santiago for the play-by-play of Galaxy broadcasts during the 2004 season, with a color commentator to be announced in the coming weeks. In addition to game broadcasts, the station will also air a weekly radio show hosted by Santiago and featuring live interviews with Galaxy players and coaches, calls from Galaxy fans and other interactive segments on Wednesday nights throughout the season from 8-9 PM.
"KMXE-AM is very proud to have been chosen as the Galaxy flagship station," said KMXE Vice President/General Manager Zeke Chaidez. "Soccer is more than a sport to our culture, it is a passion and the Galaxy organization has exemplified its true commitment to the sport and to Southern California Hispanics. We look forward to an exciting season and to be a part of the same passion that is integral to our community."
Radiovisa Corporation's Radio 830 AM KMXE features an innovative 24 hour compelling Spanish talk radio format. KMXE's programming includes Gerardo Por La Mañana, Ella es...Gigi Graciette, The Juancarlos Show, En El Medio with Antonio Gonzalez and Deportes Y Más, a 3 hour daily sports show hosted by Troy Santiago and featuring Adrian Garcia. Radio 830 AM KMXE is a 50,000 watt radio station blanketing Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties and is now the largest Hispanic AM radio signal in the U.S.
