Colts outfielder Ronnie Gaines was named the Rawlings Player of the Week in the North American League, for the week of June 26th. Ronnie won the award by going 12 for 24 (.500), with five doubles, two homeruns, scored ten runs and had eleven runs batted in during the week. On July 1 Ronnie went 4 for 5 and was only a triple short of the cycle, with a single, two doubles, a homerun, six RBIs and a run scored.

The Colts Captain, a leader both on and off the field, has strong ties to the San Angelo community, including being a standout at Angelo State University, participating in many community events both during the regular season as well as the off-season and lives in San Angelo year round now. After hitting .330 with 10 homeruns and 71 RBIs last season, he won the team's MVP award and could not be more excited about the current adulation. "It's an honor and it feels good, it's not only me we have a lot of good hitters on the team that are hitting well right now who have put it together, said Gaines".

Ronnie, who was signed by the White Sox in 2008, has spent most of his professional career with the Colts franchise. He has been a contributor all season and is amongst the league leaders in over a dozen categories. Gaines is currently the only player in the North American League hitting over .400 and leads the league in eight offensive categories. The leagues leading hitter (.427), also leads the league in runs (49), hits (64), total bases (117), doubles (20), extra-base hits (31), slugging percentage (.780) and hit by pitches (11). Gaines is also second in RBIs (38) and on-base percentage (.511), as well as third in homeruns (11). Gaines got off to a great start in 2011, with a 25 game hitting streak that started from the beginning of the season, he also reached base safely in the first 33 games. Ronnie is a big reason the Colts overcame the WhiteWings and currently stand in first place in the Southern Division with a 22-14 record, winning 8 of their last 10 games.
