San Angelo Colts News Release

Harlingen, Texas---It was not very liberating for the Colts on Independence Day. San Angelo pulled to within one run twice, but would lose on July 4th to the WhiteWings, ending their six game win streak. San Angelo who came into the game 2 ½ games up on Rio, would lose 12-7.

Daryl Jones would put the Colts up 1-0 in the first with an RBI single; it would be the only time the Colts lead all night. The WhiteWings countered with four in the bottom of the first, on a David Peralta RBI single that drove in two, an RBI double by Leivi Ventura and a wild pitch and it was 4-1 WhiteWings. Rio added another run in the second on a Wilmer Pino (3) homerun, to make it 5-1 after two. After the Colts scored a run in the top of the third to make it 5-2, both teams exchanged runs in the fourth to make it 8-4, as the Colts scored a pair in the top of the inning and the Wings scored three times in the bottom of the inning.

San Angelo then scored three times in the top of the sixth to cut it to 8-7, but the WhiteWings would add four this time to make the score 12-7, which would be the final. With the loss the Colts season high six game winning streak would come to an end. With the victory, the WhiteWings pull to within a 1 ½ games of first place, as they continue to the Colts.

The Colts play a pair of seven inning contests on Tuesday night.
