Asheville Tourists News Release

CHARLESTON - The Asheville Tourists received a tremendous starting pitching performance from Will Gaddis on Tuesday night in Charleston. Gaddis limited the Charleston RiverDogs to one run on three hits and helped lead the Tourists to a 6-1 win.

Gaddis' only blemish was a solo Home Run hit by Charleston in the bottom of the second inning; however, the RiverDogs' lead was short lived. Bret Boswell immediately tied the game with a solo Home Run in the top of the third.

The Tourists used some spotty RiverDogs defense in the fourth to grab a 2-1 lead. Casey Golden reached second on an error and scored on Ramon Marcelino's single into right field. In the fifth, Asheville added another on a Chad Spanberger RBI fielder's choice.

The game remained 3-1 until the Tourists rallied for two more runs in the eighth. Marcelino doubled home Golden and Shael Mendoza chipped in an RBI single to plate Marcelino. Boswell would score on another RiverDogs error in the ninth to complete the scoring.

Braxton Lorenzini, Tommy Doyle, and Nate Harris did not mess around out of Asheville's bullpen. The three relivers combined to face nine batters over three shutout innings. Charleston finished the game with only three hits.

Boswell and Mendoza each tallied three-hit nights for Asheville while Marcelino finished 2-for-3 with a walk.
