Greenville Drive News Release

Greenville, SC - The Rome Braves jumped out to a big lead early in Tuesday night's contest against the Greenville Drive and never looked back in a 10-4 victory at Fluor Field.

After a scoreless first inning, the Braves (39-25) offense came alive for seven runs over the next two innings. A three-run homer by Austin Bush off Alex Scherff (1-5) was the big blow in a five-run second, and RBI hits by Drew Lugbauer and Isranel Wilson came in the third inning.

The Drive (21-42) got on the board in the bottom of the sixth as Victor Acosta lined an RBI single to plate Frankie Rios, who led off the inning with a walk.

Rome plated their final three runs of the night on a three-run home run by Wilson in the top of the seventh.

Samuel Miranda's two-run single highlighted a three-run eighth for the Drive.

Jasseel De La Cruz (2-2) allowed just one run in five plus innings of work to get the win for the Braves. He struck out four and gave up three hits.

The Drive received four scoreless innings from Dominic LoBrutto prior to the seventh inning homer, and the southpaw struck out seven on the night. Lukas Young relieved LoBrutto and retired all seven hitters he faced.

Miranda drove in two runs and reached base three times for Greenville, while Acosta went 2-5 with an RBI.

The teams will play a doubleheader at Fluor Field on Wednesday, and first pitch in the opener is at 5:05 PM. The Drive are scheduled to start right-hander Hildemaro Requena (1-1, 6.19) and left-hander Angel Padron (1-3, 4.54) in the twin bill. The Braves will start right-hander Alan Rangel (2-4, 5.40) in game one and left-hander Hayden Deal (4-0, 1.91) in the nightcap.
