ABOUT LAST GAME: The Fireflies dropped their series opener to the Legends, 3-0, on Monday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The game was called in the eighth inning at 10:03 ET after a 30-minute rain delay. Darwin Ramos shined out of the bullpen with three scoreless innings and a season-high five strikeouts. This snapped Columbia's three-game winning streak.
HERE, THERE, EVERYWHERE: Hansel Moreno is one of the most versatile defensive players on the team. The 21-year-old has played four different positions: shortstop, third base, second base, and left field. He's committed just three errors in 28 games. Moreno has also been swinging a hot bat recently with seven hits over his last four games.
REINFORCEMENTS: Columbia's bullpen has been extremely reliable over the last four games...
- 11.1 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K (0.81 ERA)
Trey Cobb owns the longest active scoreless streak on the mound among Fireflies relievers (8 IP).
STREAKIN': Outfielder Raphael Gladu's franchise-record 23-game hit streak came to an end on Sunday. It was the first time since May 8 that Gladu did not record a hit. The lefty hit .365 (31-for-85) during the streak. His 28-game on-base streak also came to an end on Sunday (which fell one game shy of tying Jeremy Vasquez's 29-game streak from April 5-May 6).
WELCOME BACK TO THE BLUEGRASS STATE: Columbia infielder Blake Tiberi grew up in Taylor Mill, Kentucky, a little over an hour north of Lexington. The former Louisville Cardinal slugger is playing in front of more than a dozen friends and family members at Whitaker Bank Ballpark this week.
WALK IT LIKE I TALK IT: Columbia is one of two teams in MiLB with three players leading their respective league in total walks, the other being the Fresno Grizzlies (HOU):
