
No Stranger to the Rain; Legends Win Second Shortened Game over Fireflies 2-1

WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK (Lexington, KY) - The Lexington Legends and Columbia Fireflies met for game two at Whitaker Bank Ballpark for the same result as the night before. The Legends come away with the 2-1 victory in a shortened, five-inning game due to inclement weather. Lexington now improves to 35-29 on the season and the Fireflies fall to 31-31.
The Legends plated their first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning. Seuly Matias led off with a double down the left field line then advanced to third on a wild pitch by Columbia's starter, Tony Dibrell. Marten Gasparini then golfed a sacrifice fly to centerfield, scoring Matias and the Legends led 1-0.
Columbia scored their lone of the game in the top of the third. Wuilmer Becerra reached on a leadoff single to right field then advanced to second on a single by Edgardo Fermin. Becerra scored on an RBI single by Raphael Gladu, tying the game 1-1.
Lexington took the lead again in the bottom of the third. Cal Jones drew a leadoff walk then advanced to third on a pair of groundouts by Travis Jones and Cristian Perez. Nick Pratto then sent a groundball to the shortstop who committed a fielding error, allowing Cal Jones to score putting Lexington in front 2-1.
Sal Biasi was awarded the win for the Legends tossing 3.0 shutout innings allowing two hits and striking out one. Tony Dibrell was given the losing throwing 4.1 innings allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits while walking two and striking out five.
The Legends and Fireflies meet for game three tomorrow at 10:35 a.m. at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. RHP Andres Sotillet (5-2, 2.82 ERA) will be on the mound for the Legends and will face RHP Joe Cavallaro (6-1, 2.26 ERA) for the Fireflies. Whitaker Bank Ballpark will be soaked with fun for Splash Day! There will be water related on field games between innings as well as Legends staff having water guns and buckets of water for kids. Following the final out, there will be a postgame water balloon fight on the field with Legends players as well has an 18ft inflatable water slide. It is also another Winning Wednesday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark! If the Legends win, fans will be able to bring their ticket to the next Wednesday home game for free admission!
